Prep Time 20 minutes
Servings: 4
Course: Dessert

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs, room temperature
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp kosher salt (or 1/2 tsp regular table salt)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

  1. Cream the butter and both sugars together for at least 2 minutes until light and fluffy.
  2. Add in the eggs and vanilla, mixing just until combined.
  3. Stir in flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix gently—do not overmix.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Chill dough for at least 30 minutes (up to 72 hours) for deeper flavor.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F. Scoop dough using a #40 scoop (about 1.5 tablespoons) and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake 9–11 minutes. The cookies should be lightly golden on the edges and soft in the center.
  8. Let cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
